Luckily, some of the ingredients that are around you can actually be used as an eye mask to reduce such disturbances. Swollen eyes, eye bags, and dark circles around the eyes can be caused by various things. The simplest cause of the problem is lack of sleep or fatigue. Too much caffeine can also cause dark circles or eye bags, because caffeinated drinks can cause difficulty sleeping. In addition, damage to blood vessels in the eyelid, and increased melanin or hyperpigmentation, can also result in eye blackening or eye bags appearing. Other causes are long-term exposure to sunlight, and loss of fat under the eyes so that there is a kind of shadow in the eye bag due to the texture of the skin that is no longer springy. To overcome problems with eye bags, there are several ways you can do. One way is to use an eye mask. Some of the ingredients below can be used as eye masks, especially to overcome the problem of eye bags.
  • Cucumber

  • In addition to making pickles, cucumbers can also be used to relieve eye puffiness. This is because cucumbers contain antioxidants that can help relieve inflammation. To maximize its effect, before using it as a mask, cucumber slices should be stored in the refrigerator. Attach the cucumber slices to the eyes for 10 minutes, then wipe the eye area with water. Repeat this treatment 2 times a day.
  • Ice Cube

  • Ice cubes have long been relied upon to relieve pain and swelling. Apparently, these effects can also be used to relieve swelling on the eyelids. To apply ice cubes as eye masks, make sure not to put ice cubes directly on your eyelids, because they can cause damage to the skin of the eyelids. Use a clean towel to wrap the ice and put it on your eyelids. Another way is to soak a towel or cloth in cold water, then apply the towel to the eye for 20 minutes.
  • Tea bag

  • Do you discard the used old tea bag directly? Wait a minute, it turns out the tea bag can be used as an eye mask to treat swollen eyes and dark circles. Green tea can be chosen to relieve swelling of the eyelids because it contains anti-inflammatory agents. If not, can use ordinary black tea. In addition to green tea and black tea, some herbal teas such as chamomile tea, roiboos, lavender, calendula, fenugreek and fennel tea can also be used. How to use it is also easy. Simply lift the tea bag that has been used and put in a plastic bag, then store it in the refrigerator. After it's cold, you can wear it as an eye mask.
  • Almond oil and vitamin E

  • Another ingredient that can be used as an eye mask is a mixture of almond oil and vitamin E. Almond oil mixed with honey has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, and contains retinol, vitamin E, and vitamin K which are useful to smooth the skin around the eyes. In addition, almond oil can also overcome the dilation of blood vessels causing discoloration of the skin around the eyes. In addition to honey, you can mix almond oil with other ingredients, such as avocado oil or vitamin E, as an eye mask.
Use this mask before going to sleep, on the area around the blackened eyes, then massage the area gently. Let stand until morning, then clean the eye area with cold water. To overcome eye bags or dark circles under the eyes, you can repeat this treatment every night until the eye bags disappear. Fixing eyelid problems with an eye mask looks easy. But, of course, it should be accompanied by lifestyle changes, so that this condition does not occur repeatedly and continuously. As a preventative measure, it is sufficient to sleep and consume water, and limit salt consumption. Also increase the intake of potassium found in certain foods, such as bananas, beans, yogurt, and green vegetables. In addition, you are also advised to reduce the consumption of alcoholic and caffeinated drinks.
